Hi,

My backups are failing with error

RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_SBT_TAPE_1 channel at 03/12/2014 20:56:21
ORA-19506: failed to create sequential file, name="fup313v6_1_1", parms=""
ORA-27028: skgfqcre: sbtbackup returned error
ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:
   VxBSACreateObject: Failed with error:
   Server Status:  the specified client does not exist in the specified policy


I checked with the Netbackup team, they told me that the client name is wrongly mentioned;
EXPECTED CLIENT NAME : oraluz.<domain>.com
CURRENT CLIENT NAME : oraLUZ.<domain>.com

my rman scripts log show this;

ENV=(NB_ORA_SERV=mucc725101.munich.munichre.com, NB_ORA_CLIENT=oraLUZ.munich.munichre.com, NB_ORA_POLICY=ORACLE_W5_CLU)


somewhere it gets converted while backup.
I have attached the output of bpclntcmd for reference.

Please please help me out.

So did you change the name and test it?
I think you should post this question in a Netbackup forum as this is not related to Oracle.

I changed and tested it and it worked. But the problem is all the servers have the same NB_ORA_CLIENT policy and we are facing error only with this one.
Anwz, you are right i will ask the Bakcup team to open a vendor case.

Have all servers the same OS?
Have them all the same Netbackup configuration?
