Hi
I had that problem,I wanted to Export a Database from Oracle 8.1.7 (English) to an Oracle Database 8.1.6 (Germany), I recieved that error , I copied IMP.EXE file from my Oracle 8.1.7 Directory to that corresponding Dir in Oracle 8.1.6 without any other changes ,and my problem was been corrected.I spend one day for fixing this error and I searched all NLS parameters from Databases but it doesn't belong to that parameters.
This is a path for IMP file :
OracleOra81binIMP.EXE
Best Regards

This "hack" only works on Windows (sometime a bug is really a undocumented great feature ;-).

What you need to do is to install 8.1.6 ORACLE and 8.1.7 ORACLE on two Windows machines, and copy the imp.exe from 8.1.7 to 8.1.6. This "hack" only work with 8.1.7 IMP.EXE executing in 8.1.6 environment.

I actually copied 8.1.7's IMP.EXE as IMP817.EXE in 8.1.6 machine and use it when I need to import 8.1.7 dump.

Hi,

I have this problem while importing into oracle 8.1.6 from the dump exported from oracle-7.2. Unfortunately, I do not have the older database available and I have to somehow import from the available dump. can anyone help me to do this?

Thanks in advance
