Always back up the index tablespace. It takes a long time to rebuild indexes like you stated. When a database is down, the client wants it back as soon as possible, but Duh, I need to spend 5 hours rebuilding indexes because I didn't back up the index tablespace. Also, double fault tollerance. Double fault tollerance. Back up everything.
