Hi all,

Is there any recommandation to downgrade a database from 9i to 8i (Unix systems) ? (Reason : Some PL/SQL programs don't have the same behaviour)

Think copying all datafiles + control files, etc is not recommanded !

Thanks for help

Yhab

Hi,

Read chapter 7 of the Oracle9i Database Migration
Release 2 (9.2) Guide: Downgrading a Database Back to the Previous Oracle Release.

Best regards.

i beleive a scripted method is to use d0801070.sql( a little tedious stuff)
Much simpler method is to an export and import .
But this is really not a fix.
AT any point of , u need to upgrade your database.
SO try fixing the PL/SQL routines.
There are a few changes from 8i to 9i ( utl_File) etc.
