I would like to know what all drawbacks or disadvantages are there in using DBMS_job.

Hi,

You only need to compare DBMS_JOB with DBMS_SCHEDULER in Oracle 10g to realize that DBMS_JOB has serious limitations. Here are a few:

1. Cannot execute OS commands
2. Cannot define job schedules and windows
3. Must use difficult to read DATE expressions (no calendaring support)
4. Cannot easily associate jobs with resource plans
