We are changing our backup strategy so that we can make daily incremental online (hot) backups, weekly online full backups and monthly offline full backups. We are going to use veritas with oracle agent for the backups.

My question is: How far back should I keep the archived redo logs? Ideally I would like to keep them for a week. Is there a way of making sure that this will be enough to recover my database?

Thanks

Hi,

You would need to keep your archived logs (or backups
of them) for at least one month.

If you can only keep the archives for one week, you
need to do a weekly offline backup.

Best regards.
