In 9i, RMAN incremental backups are available only in enterprise edition. Not available in Standard Edition.
In 10g, RMAN incremental backups are available in both standard and enterprise editions.

Using Exp I feel that you can able to take the inc backup irrespective of the st or enterprise edition.

Mahesh, what did you say.

Did you try that ever?
Please try it.

Export is not actually a backup. It never was considered as a backup. And is now depreciated.

Incremental / cumulative exports are loosely defined concepts.
You take a regular export of your schema.
You update 1 record on tableA.
You take an incremental export on schema.
By definition, this incremental export should export only that 1 record changed. Instead it will export the whole table that was changed.
So incremental export is ***really*** not an incremental export.

hi mahesh,

What if one uses QUERY option of export while exporting say based on a particular col , one can put where clause which can export just the one row of the table but not the entire table data.

wht do u say?

Yes you can do that.
What is the point here?
Are trying to do an incremental export with this?
You can do this, as long as you know which particular record is been updated.
And how would you apply this when you are importing back?
Import will not update!. Import will only append!.
