Hi

HotBackup means only tablespaces backup or also the backup of controlfile and log files also.

Normally in real time, to take hot backup we need to run a script, this will take backup of only datafiles or also the backup of control files and log files also.

Plz clear this doubt.

when taking hot backup, take backup of datafiles & controlfile only.

No need to backup redologs.

DB has to be in archive log mode for taking hot backup. Otherwise its not possible.

Also, I would advise that you start reading some docs related to general DB administration. They will come handy for you.

A hot backup, technically speaking, does not include control files. You can and should have backups of control files, but that is an extra step in terms of what a hot backup is. You should backup a control file AFTER a stuctural change has been made.
